This time in From the drawer series I am getting back to the tasting note from December 2015. It was evaluating beer called Be Like Mitch from Ale Browar brewery. Lets see, how this American Wheat tasted…

Evaluated beer is called Be Like Mitch and was produced by Ale Browar brewery with 11,6% of extract using Citra, Amarillo, Simcoe and Cascade hops. It is American Wheat style and contains 4,4% of alcohol. The color is straw, medium intense. Beer is hazy, almost muddy. Viscosity is also medium. Foam is white, dense, goes down very slowly leaving pretty nice lacing.

The aroma is medium intense with strong hops and citrus, emphasizing orange and a little bit of lemon. In taste there are also strong hops, a little bit weaker citrus and maybe just a few tones of resin. The taste itself is pretty intense, refreshing and deep with some residual bitterness, pleasent. This beer seems to be pretty drinkable, although not sip by sip.

The attack is not too aromatic, but strongly pinches the tongue – high saturation. The body could be described as bombarding of hops with all its power. It is pretty static, but with strong, hoppy character. Finish is pretty short, but leaves interesting, longer hoppy aftertaste with some residual bitterness just after the swollow.

Considering the style, beer seems to be well balanced. Although its a Wheat, it has high level of hops and the refreshing feeling is blocked a little bit with residual bitterness. But taking under consideration the fact, that it is American version, where such power of hops is expected, I can say, this beer fulfills desired style with 100%. Bitterness is very strong, hoppy, supported by delicate tones of citrus acidity. There is almost no sweetness.

Summarizing – it is very interesting version of Wheat. American character provided by hops perfectly supports the prefix in name of this style variation. It would be perfect for everyone loving hops in every, especially pure, condensated form. I think, that it can be recommended to everyone looking for interesting types and styles of beer. For sure it is worth coming back while seeking for some refreshing feeling interrupted with hops. It would be perfect for meeting with friends, but also during a lonely chilling evening.

Final note is 7,5/10.

A few words about this tasting note – it instantly reminded me the problem I had recently with Córka Młynarza beer, also American Wheat. Having in mind the style characteristic, I reached while preparing that material, I must say, that in this note all conclusions and comments are correct. I am glad about this fact, keeping in mind, that this note comes from more than 4 years ago. This note is pretty short, but substantial and meaningfull – it is nice feeling to come back to such materials and verify them with knowledge that was gained in a meantime…

If you have tried Be Like Mitch from Ale Browar brewery, please share your thoughts in comments section. I am curious, if your experience would be simmilar to those, I had four years ago. Maybe I will look for this beer for myself in near future…

Meanwhile, best regards and see you in next posts…
